International Architectural Research Colloquium 2022 from Brno University of Technology, Czechia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

On 10th March 2022, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Architecture Programme had conducted the International Architectural Research Colloquium 2022 between Brno University of Technology (BUT), Czechia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
This event is a continuity from the previous International Design Colloquium 2022 which was a version for architecture undergraduate students.
During this event, the selected postgraduate students have to present their research based on their current progress.
This event, which was chaired by Ts. Dr. Shahariah Norain Shaharuddin, had started with a welcoming speech from the Director of Architecture Programme, UTM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alice Sabrina Ismail.
There were three expert panels from UTM Architecture school who had participated in this event: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairul Anwar Mohamed Khaidzir, Dr. Aiman Mohd. Rashid and Ts. Dr. Muhammad Faizal Abdul Rani.
Meanwhile, BUT Architecture school was represented by three expert panels who were Ing. Arch. Radek Toman, Ph.D., Ing. Arch. Jiri Palacky, Ph.D. and Ing. Arch. Jan Kristek, Ph.D.
Three students from UTM Architecture school had also taken part.
They were Thomas T. Aule (‘Exploring Socio-Cultural Meanings and Values for Sustainable Indigenous Housing Transformation’), Nabilah Zainal Abidin (‘Using 3D Modelling Program in Identifying Ergonomic Properties of Traditional Malay Furniture of Malaysian Architectural Heritage’) and Mahsa Khatibi (‘Critical Design Development of Sustainable Neighbourhoods’).
The representatives from BUT were Vaclav Sana (‘Material History, Planetary Urbanization Pilgrims by the World Ocean’), Marie Joja (‘Interpretation of Temporary Structure in the Context of Activation of Abandoned Sites’) and Katerina Cenovska (‘Shrinking Cities: Alternative Ways of Urban Planning’).
This event was conducted over more than three hours.
The presentation had started with the students from BUT, and followed by UTM.
During the session, the expert panels had discussed and given some recommendations on how the students could enhance the quality of their research.
This online platform has many advantages for both institutions. It also provided a platform and opportunity to share their expertise and promoting the strengths of each university.
Furthermore, each participant, especially the presenters, can improve and learn from each other.
Overall, this event had resulted in positive feedback for both universities.
Among others, it can lead to many other collaborations that can be done in the future which will help strengthen bilateral networking between the two universities
International Program for Upskilling Professional Graduates Organized by UTM Architecture Program

As part of the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Architecture program initiatives to upskill the students with professional exposure towards excellent employability in the global market, an international event was conducted with UTM Career Centre and the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying.
This occasion was held on the 21st February 2022 and officiated by the Head of Architecture Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alice Sabrina Ismail, moderated by Dr. Iziq Eafifi Ismail.
Two main prominent speakers in the industry, represented by the principal architect from Farik Ghaffar Architect, Ar. Ahmad Farik Abd Ghaffar, and the principal architect of Rushdina Architect, Ar. Rushdina Ismail, were invited to share their professional experience on value-added skills and the importance of having soft skills.
Future graduates will need to regularly upskill during their careers as the challenge to match graduate skills with industry demands has never been more significant for employability.
Employability, therefore, is not just about getting a job; it is about a broader set of attributes that will enable a graduate to be successful throughout their working life.
It cannot be easily ignored, as thinking about employability from an early stage is likely to increase the chance of success in one’s chosen career.
In this regard, both speakers provided valuable inputs not only for students but also to graduates in order for them to enhance new abilities to become versatile, resilient and critical thinker individuals with game-changer attitudes.

In addition, they also highlighted graduates to be technologically-savvy employees who have digital transformation skills to face the critical challenges in the 21st century workplace environment.
This event, which lasted for four hours, was well-received by students from different backgrounds representing local and abroad universities, polytechnic, and colleges.
Almost 200 attendees from various fields participated in this session.
Many gave positive feedback and looked forward to having a similar program conducted in the near future.
From a survey done, many agree that early exposure to the industry is vital to prepare graduates for real-world insights before entering the workplace.
This is essential to cope with rapid changes in the industry and take charge of their learning.
E-Carnival Roadshow, ‘Jom Masuk Senibina 2022’, organized by UTM Architecture Programme

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Architecture Programme successfully organized an E-Carnival Roadshow, ‘Jom Masuk Senibina UTM 2022’, a collaboration event with Johor Matriculation College.
This collaboration initiative was sparked by a bilateral meeting between the two parties in early December 2021.
It aimed to provide exposure on the career of architectural professionals and the marketability of graduates in this field, not only to matriculation students but also to secondary schools, parents and general public.
This roadshow, conducted on 30th January 2022, was officiated by the Dean of Faculty Built Environment, Assoc. Prof. Sr. Dr. Kherun Nita Ali.
The opening remark was done by the Head of Architecture Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alice Sabrina Ismail, and moderated by Dr. Iziq Eafifi Ismail.
This roadshow received positive feedback and attracted many local students and teachers from matriculation centers, public and private schools throughout Malaysia, and the public.

The 4-hour roadshow session highlighted the benefit of enrolling in the architecture program by the program coordinators, Dr. Roshida Abdul Majid, Dr. Fadhlina Ahmad @ Taufik and Mr. Azari Mat Yasir.
There is also a particular slot on having successful alumni in the architecture field: the author of ‘Ustazah Basikal’ book, Mr. Ahmad Mohd Isa, who had sold 30,000 copies worldwide and a famous YouTube influencer, Mr. Muhammad Izzuddin Awang Junit (The Pakcik/Keraf Studio YouTube Channel).
Apart from that, the roadshow also invited graduates from Matriculation Center, Dr. Azalillah Ramdani Musa and Dr. Tengku Intan Suraya Tengku Aziz on career development path in the field of architecture.

This roadshow was attended by 150 participants, indicating an overwhelmed and positive response from many parties. It is hoped that many will enroll in the architecture program for the new intake Semester 1 2022/2023.
This early exposure is vital to produce high-quality and holistic graduates who are going to venture into the job market and meet the current industry and market’s needs. This also will contribute to the nation’s development in line with the requirements of the country Shared Prosperity Vision Policy (DWKB2030).
International Architecture Webinars between UTM Architecture Program and Prominent Global Universities

The UTM Architecture Program has successfully conducted five series of International Architecture Webinars online.
The webinars gathered prominent experts from the architecture field and related design disciplines to discuss a wide range of issues faced by the present societies from different continents.
These five webinar series was conducted on the 1st November 2021 (1st Webinar Series); 15th November 2021 (2nd Webinar Series); 23rd November 2021 (3rd Webinar Series); 20th December 2021 (4th Webinar Series), and 28th December 2021 (5th Webinar Series).
These five Webinar Series involved five lecturers from the program of Architecture UTM and ten lecturers from five universities representing four countries: Indonesia, India, United Kingdom and Spain.
These five universities are Vellore Institute of Technology and Sasi Creative School of Architecture, Chennai, India; University of Alicante, Spain; Sheffield University, United Kingdom and Universitas Tanjungpura, Kalimantan, Indonesia.
These five international webinar series have attracted many audiences and participants worldwide, locally and abroad, providing new exposure and knowledge dimension discussing real-life matters faced by developed and well-developed nations.
An estimation of thousand participants attended these five online webinar series. The responses were optimistic and overwhelming.
Each webinar series session, which took about 4 hours, did impact the architecture students and triggered new thinking approaches for them to have intelligent design solutions.
This activity increases collaboration and peers learning among students and academicians, which is valuable in building linkages and strengthening the relationship between the UTM architecture program and prominent international universities.
Positive feedbacks given by the participants motivate the UTM Architecture program to organize more international webinar series in the future.
Adjunct Professor Lecture on ODESSA Project for ‘Elderly Living and Ageing in Place’ organized by UTM Architecture Program

Elderly living and the concept of ageing in place is a crucial issue faced by many well-developed and developed nations.
Malaysia’s life expectancy, for instance, may increase by 2030, in which the ageing population aged above 65 years and over, is growing faster than all other age groups.
It is expected that this ageing population will be more than 15% of the total population in the year 2030, and this percentage is likely to rise higher over the next three decades.
The increasing longevity indicates the climbing numbers of surviving older people, who demand better living and Quality of Life (QoL) later in life and retirement concerning housing, health services, transportation and social participation.

Realizing this, a lecture presented by a lecturer from School of Architecture, University of Sheffield, Adjunct Prof. Dr. Karim Hadjri, highlighted on the framework of the elderly housing design concept about optimizing care delivery models to support ageing-in-place (ODESSA) project.
Adjunct Prof. Dr. Karim Hadjri is an architect and is the Head of Architecture School at the University of Sheffield.
He has led and participated in 28 international research projects worldwide on age-friendly environments sustainable design of the built environment, including housing and health.
This ODESSA project is a collaborative partnership between the United Kingdom, China, and France research group.
This project aims to establish a design guideline for future elderly housing concerning mobility, sensory, cognitive, health and safety, and social inclusion.
This event, conducted on 14th December 2021, was officiated by the Director of the UTM Architecture Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alice Sabrina Ismail and moderated by Dr. Iziq Eafifi Ismail.
It has received positive feedback and attracted many local and international students and academic staff from various institutions, including public and private agencies.
The 4-hour dialogue session highlighted many issues faced by elderly housing, looking into examples of case studies in China and the European Union.
This online lecture promotes and heightens the sense of awareness among academicians, students and the public to propagate a feeling of responsibility in providing a better living environment for the elderly population.
Due to overwhelmed response from many parties, the UTM Architecture program will organize more dialogues on housing development to promote better living quality for the future society of Malaysia.
International Colloquium on Cultural Heritage and Challenge of Sustainability between UTM Architecture Program, Malaysian Heritage Trust, Department of National Heritage, UNESCO & ICOMOS

Cultural heritage is a valuable factor that provides time-tested solutions for conflict prevention and reconciliation for establishing a sense of appreciation, unity and belonging in society.
In addition, it also provides a clear understanding of the past to inspire the future.
Realizing this, the UTM Architecture program, in collaboration with Institut Sultan Iskandar (ISI), supported by the Malaysian Heritage Trust, Department of National Heritage, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), had conducted an online colloquium.
This colloquium aimed to promote and propagate awareness among the public on the role and the needs to preserve the value of cultural heritage namely in the current context.
This event was officiated by the Director of Architecture Program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alice Sabrina Ismail and moderated by Prof. Dr. Syed Ahmad Iskandar Syed Ariffin and Dr. Shahariah Norain Shaharuddin.

The occasion was successfully held with four prominent guest speakers in heritage.
They are the Director-General of Department of National Heritage, Mr. Azmi Mohd Yusof, the President of ICOMOS, Ar. Tiong Kian Boon, and the council members of Malaysian Heritage Trust, Ar. Lim Take Bane and Ar. Anand Krishnan.
This event received positive feedback and managed to attract a large spectrum of local and international participants from various agencies and institutions.
The 4-hour dialogue session highlighted the legal instruments that support the development of national policies for heritage protection, emphasizing the preservation and delved into the aspects of methods and approaches to conserve the intangible and tangible cultural heritage in Malaysia and abroad.
This online colloquium promotes and heightens the sense of awareness among the public and propagates a feeling of responsibility in inculcating heritage values towards enhancing the quality of life and increasing overall well-being for both individuals and communities.

Due to overwhelmed response from many parties, the UTM Architecture program will organize more heritage platforms for international and local dialogue.
This is to foster mutual respect, appreciation and understanding in the future so that the wealth of heritage knowledge and skills can be transmitted from one generation to the next.
Indonesia – Malaysia Research Consortium (IMRC) Led by UTM – UM to Enhance Research Innovations for Societal Development in Two Nations

A virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) exchange ceremony between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) with Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), Indonesia, was held on 30th December 2021.
The exchange of MoA was held for these two universities to collaborate and have a joint funding in research and publication.
This MoA aims for excellence in research and constitutes to legally expand the research and publication outreach between UTM and UM networking.
It is pertinent in fulfilling the demands of both countries involving the industry and the community.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellors from UTM and UM officiated this historic event
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) from UTM, Prof. Dr. Rosli Md Illias, gave the welcoming speech while the welcoming remark from UM counterpart was presented by the Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Budi Eko Sucipto, M. Pd.
The ceremony was attended by the Vice Academic Dean of Faculty of Built Environment & Surveying (FBES), UTM, Assoc. Prof. Sr. Dr. Kherun Nita Ali, Head of Institute for Research and Community Engagement, UM, Prof. Dr. Markus Diantoro, M.Pd., Director of International Affairs, UM, Dr. Evi Eliyanah, MoA committee members and academic staff, Indonesia – Malaysia Research Consortium (IMRC) Management, Senior Officers, Faculty’s Deans, and Head of Departments.
Speaking on occasion, the Deputy Vice-Chancellors from both universities agreed to strengthen the collaboration, namely in research activities.
They want these two institutions to become leadership champions to contribute to the built environment development for both countries.
The collaboration agreement between UTM and UM began in October 2017 under the consortium known as IMRC. It is the Indonesia-Malaysia network of research-intensive universities and institutions.
This IMRC consortium aims to foster institutional innovation through research-inspired teaching and learning student mobility.
It also connects students and staff for broader advocacy for internationalization.
In 2018, under this IMRC consortium, five research clusters were established.
They are i) Renewable Energy, ii) Humanities and Culture, iii) Biomedicine and Health, iv) STEM kits, v) Disaster risk reduction and disaster risk management.
These five research cluster establishments intended to increase the research network intensively to benefit communities in Malaysia and Indonesia.
In 2020, two of the research clusters under the IMRC consortium, STEM kits and the Humanities Culture led by researchers from both institutions, had embarked on ten research works.
It had vast opportunities to be patented and commercialized for the development of both countries in the field of science and social science.
Under UTM, the STEM kits research cluster is led by the Faculty of Science (FS), whereas the Humanities Culture cluster is led by the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FBES).

The agreement to collaborate was discussed virtually on the 29th November 2020, between the Director of Architecture Program, Head of Social Science IMRC research cluster, Assoc. Prof. Dr Alice Sabrina Ismail, Head of STEM kits Research Cluster representing UTM, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Syed Iskandar Syed Ariffin and Prof. Dr. Hadi Nur, and the representatives of UM, Head Institute for Research and Community Engagement, Prof. Dr. Markus Diantoro, and Head of Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program, Faculty of Literature, Dr. Endah Tri Priyatni.
This collaboration is an essential milestone in the relations between UTM and UM.
Both institutions had conducted many international joint colloquium, knowledge and cultural sharing sessions in cooperative research projects as a collaborative effort.
These programmes had significantly attained many excellent responses and learning goals that benefit the academic fraternity in both institutions.
It had successfully reached out to the broader global community too.
Numerous future collaborations between UTM and UM will be conducted soon. It is hoped that both institutions will achieve high excellence in research and academic endeavours.
In short, UTM would like to express gratitude to UM, IMRC and all the parties involved in ensuring the success of this virtual MoA exchange ceremony.

Bengkel ArcGIS Online kepada pelajar FABU dengan kerjasama Map2U Sdn Bhd

Johor Bahru, Feb 2022 – Syarikat Map2U Sdn Bhd telah berbesar hati untuk melaksanakan bengkel 2 hari, “Pembangunan Aplikasi GIS menggunakan ArcGIS Online” pada 21 dan 22 Feb 2022 yang lalu kepada pelajar Sarjana Muda Sains (Geoinformatik), Fakulti Alam Bina (FABU), UTM.
Kursus ini merupakan kerjasama antara FABU dan Map2U Sdn Bhd, adalah sebahagian daripada pelaksanaan kursus Integrasi Khemah Latihan GIS 2022, yang berlangsung selama 5 minggu, bermula 13 Februari 2022 sehingga 17 Mac 2022. Kursus Khemah Latihan GIS ini merupakan salah satu kursus teras dalam program Sarjana Muda Sains (Geoinformatik), dan dilaksanakan pada tahun ke 2 dan tahun ke 3 program.
Pihak Map2u Sdn Bhd diwakili oleh Cik Aimi dan juga Cik Izzati.
Bengkel ini dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk membolehkan pelajar membuat laman web berasaskan GIS secara ringkas menggunakan aplikasi ArcGIS Online. ArcGIS Online membenarkan pengguna untuk melihat paparan peta dengan maklumat berkaitan lokasi, seperti lokasi klinik, hospital, taman perumahan dan lain-lain. Pemilihan aplikasi ArcGIS Online ini dibuat sebagai aplikasi dalam Khemah Latihan GIS ini adalah kerana ianya fokus kepada rekabentuk dan pembangunan laman web berasaskan GIS, mudah dibangunkan, dan mempunyai fungsi-fungsi berkaitan GIS yang pelbagai.
Modul yang terdapat dalam bengkel ini secara asasnya terbahagi kepada 3, iaitu modul kemasukan data GIS, modul pembangunan Web Map GIS, dan juga modul dashboard GIS.
Modul-modul ini melibatkan proses merekabentuk laman web, proses penyediaan maklumat GIS, proses memuatnaik data-data berkaitan, membuat paparan yang bersesuaian, dan menghasilkan laman web berasaskan GIS untuk aplikasi GIS, secara khususnya untuk aplikasi kesihatan. Selain itu, aplikasi ini juga membenarkan pengguna untuk memaparkan paparan “dashboard” yang mampu memberikan nilai tambah kepada laman web GIS ini.
Diharapkan kerjasama dan perkongsian daripada pihak Map2U Sdn Bhd ini mampu memberikan kebaikan kepada pelajar, terutama dalam melihat kelebihan pembangunan laman web untuk paparan data GIS, selain menjadikan nilai tambah kepada pelajar dalam meningkatkan pembelajaran sepanjang masa.

Kunjungan Hormat Pengurusan Eksekutif Fakulti Alam Bina Dan Ukur (FABU) ke Jabatan Tanah & Survei Sarawak
Delegasi Pengurusan Eksekutif Fakulti Alam Bina Dan Ukur (FABU), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia telah menerima jemputan untuk mengadakan kunjungan hormat ke Jabatan Tanah & Survei (JTS), Kuching, Sarawak.
Kunjungan hormat ini bertujuan untuk membincangkan dan mencapai kata sepakat berkaitan dengan cadangan aktiviti-aktiviti ke arah menghasilkan pelan strategik kerjasama jangka pendek dan jangka panjang makmal satelit di antara pihak FABU, UTM dan JTS dibawah perjanjian Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) yang telah dimeterai pada 6 September 2021.
Delegasi FABU diketuai oleh Prof. Madya Sr Dr Kherun Nita binti Ali (Dekan), bersama Prof. Madya Dr Zulkepli bin Majid (Timbalan Dekan Penyelidikan, Inovasi dan Pembangunan), Prof. Madya Tpr Dr. Hairul Nizam bin Ismail (Pengarah Perancangan Bandar dan Wilayah), Prof. Madya Dr. Muhammad Najib bin Razali (Pengarah Harta Tanah), Dr Mustafa bin Omar (Pensyarah Kanan) dan En. Abdul Jalil bin Maulani (Timbalan Pendaftar).

Sesi perbincangan dua hala diantara pihak FABU, UTM dan JTS yang dipengerusikan oleh Timbalan Pengarah (Pengurusan) JTS iaitu Ybrs En. Awang Zamhari Bin Awang Mahmood berjaya menghasilkan objektif program dan meneroka kepakaran bidang dari kedua-dua belah pihak. Pihak FABU akan menyumbang kepakaran berkaitan bidang Geoinformasi, Penilaian Harta Tanah, Pentadbiran Dan Pembangunan Tanah serta Perancangan Bandar Dan Wilayah.
YBrs Encik Abdul Jalil bin Maulani, Timbalan Pendaftar FABU juga membuat pembentangan pelaksanaan projek Kumpulan Inovasi dan Kreatif (KIK) yang bertujuan untuk mempelajari penganjuran dan penyertaan JTS di dalam projek-projek KIK. Disamping itu, sesi pembentangan keseluruhan program di bawah Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) Makmal Satelit antara UTM & JTS telah dilaksanakan oleh Pengarah Geoinformasi dengan tujuan untuk berkongsi hasil perhatian tuan Pengarah JTS dan Dekan FABU.
Pihak UTM juga melalui YBhg Dekan berbesar hati menjemput pihak JTS ke UTM Skudai Johor untuk kunjungan balas bagi perbincangan dan aktiviti lanjutan serta mengeratkan lagi jalinan Kerjasama UTM/JTS.

The Programme of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying (FABU), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) had successfully organized and hosted the 1st International webinar in collaboration with Architecture School of Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), India, Vellore Institute of Technology, India, Universitas Indonesia, and Walailak University, Thailand on 29th March 2022 (Tuesday) from 3.00 p.m. till 6.15 p.m. through Cisco Webex online platform.
his webinar series is more special in the way that 5 architecture schools from 4 different countries collaborated and disseminated knowledge to the audience present on the virtual platform.
The International webinar was participated by more than 90’s audiences.
The participants were from various locations around the world including India, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

The 3 hours webinar session has enriched the audience’s view and knowledge from technological and various empirical research studies to the theoretical and philosophical approach in architectural design.
The event allowed the UTM architecture programme to connect with a wider range of students and academics than they would have otherwise.
To benefit all institutions involved, UTM architecture programme hopes that a broader discourse on the built environment can be conducted in the future that covers areas such as an interdisciplinary field that covers design, construction, and management to benefit academicians, students and industry practitioners.

FABU UTM Kongsi Cara Pemprosesan Data GNSS Berkejituan Tinggi Dengan Pihak Jabatan Tanah dan Survei (JTS)
Pihak Jabatan Tanah dan Survei (JTS) dengan Fakulti Alam Bina & Ukur (FABU), UTM telah mengadakan satu lagi aktiviti Makmal Satelit untuk sesi bengkel lock-up pemprosesan data GNSS menggunakan perisian berkejituan tinggi iaitu Bernese 5.2 yang berlangsung di Imperial Hotel, Kuching pada 28 Mac hingga 1 April 2022 lalu.
Bengkel ini dihadiri oleh beberapa pegawai dan staf daripada Pusat Data CORS (PDC) dan divisyen – divisyen JTS Sarawak yang terlibat.
Pihak daripada FABU, UTM diwakili oleh Dr. Wan Anom Wan Aris dan dibantu oleh Prof. Madya Dr. Effendi Daud dari Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) diikuti beberapa orang pelajar pascasiswazah iaitu En. Muhammad Hanifah Mazlan, Cik Nur Jehan Jaffar dan En. Amir Husni Kamaludin.
Bengkel ini diadakan bagi membantu pihak JTS Sarawak dalam cara kerja pemprosesan data GNSS berkejituan tinggi bagi tujuan penyelenggaraan datum SGeD20 yang merupakan datum semi-dinamik negeri Sarawak.
Bengkel ini dijalankan selama 5 hari bermula 28 Mac sehingga 1 April 2022. Pengisian bengkel selama ini berasaskan 5 modul yang menumpukan 4 fasa dalam pemprosesan data GNSS berkejituan tinggi.
Tiga kumpulan telah dibentuk oleh pihak JTS Sarawak iaitu kumpulan Alpha, Bravo dan Charlie di mana ahli – ahli daripada setiap kumpulan ini digabungkan daripada pegawai dan staf teknikal dari divisyen terlibat. Setiap kumpulan ini bertanggungjawab untuk melaksanakan pemprosesan data GNSS bermula tahun 2020 sehingga 2022 bagi tujuan penyelenggaraan datum SGeD20.
Sepanjang berlangsungnya bengkel, setiap ahli kumpulan didedahkan dengan cara kerja berfasa untuk pemprosesan data GNSS menggunakan perisian Bernese 5.2, bermula daripada semakan kualiti data cerapan GNSS, pra-pemprosesan data GNSS, pemprosesan vektor garis dasar untuk menjana solusi koordinat harian, penghasilan siri masa koordinat harian menggunakan perisian MATLAB dan akhir sekali, anggaran parameter deformasi bagi datum semi-dinamik.
Bengkel ini juga telah memberi pengalaman dan pengetahuan kepada setiap ahli kumpulan peserta dalam tatacara pemprosesan data GNSS yang lebih teratur dan efektif. Pihak JTS Sarawak berharap agar segala input yang telah dikongsikan dapat diaplikasikan oleh pegawai dan staf terlibat dalam pelaksanaan kerja – kerja penyelenggaran datum SGeD20 sebagai sebuah datum semi- dinamik negeri Sarawak.

Aktiviti Makmal Satelit – Lawatan Penanda Aras Aktiviti/Projek KIK FABU UTM Ke Jabatan Tanah Dan Survei (JTS) Sarawak

Seramai 7 orang staf professional dan pelaksana (PPP) Fakulti Alam Bina & Ukur (FABU) telah diberi peluang untuk menyertai Bengkel Bimbingan Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif Jabatan Tanah dan Survei (JTS) Sarawak yang telah diadakan di Hotel Pullman Kuching, Sarawak pada 10 hingga 11 Mac 2022.
Lawatan ini diketuai oleh Profesor Madya Sr. Dr. Tajul Ariffin bin Musa, Pengarah Geoinformasi FABU selaku Penasihat Program untuk aktiviti makmal satelit antara FABU, UTM – JTS, Sarawak, yang juga telah mendapatkan kebenaran dari pihak JTS untuk Kumpulan Pancang dan Kumpulan Fabulous dari FABU turut sama dalam Bengkel Bimbingan yang diadakan oleh JTS ini.
Tujuan lawatan penanda aras ini diadakan adalah bagi membantu fakulti dalam memperkasakan aktiviti inovasi diperingkat UTM. JTS Sarawak merupakan pilihan utama lawatan penanda aras oleh FABU UTM berdasarkan kepada Inovasi cetusan idea Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif (KIK) JTS Sarawak telah menghasilkan lebih 152 projek berkualiti memfokuskan 4 komponen utama tenaga manusia, proses dan prosedur kerja, kerangka perundangan dan teknologi.
Lawatan penanda aras yang diadakan ini juga merupakan hasil daripada salah satu usaha Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) untuk mengadakan kerjasama yang telah ditandatangani di antara UTM dan JTS pada 6 September 2021 serta hasil lawatan kunjungan hormat Pengurusan Eksekutif FABU ke Sarawak pada 17 hingga 19 Januari 2022 yang lalu. Antara intipati bengkel ini diadakan adalah bagi menentukan pemilihan tajuk inovasi yang lebih tepat dan sesuai oleh setiap kumpulan serta selaras dengan permasalahan berkaitan sistem kerja semasa.
Di samping itu, tempoh masa yang diberikan kepada setiap kumpulan bagi mencari tajuk inovasi adalah lebih kurang 1 hingga 2 bulan. Dari segi skop pemilihan tajuk inovasi setiap kumpulan pula adalah menjurus kepada masalah yang acap kali dihadapi oleh pengguna dan staf sendiri dalam menguruskan tugasan harian semasa. Melalui bengkel yang diadakan ini, panel pemilih yang terdiri daripada DYM Awang Zamhari bin Awang Mahmood, Timbalan Pengarah (Pengurusan) JTS Sarawak, En. Ramzi bin Abdillah, Pn. Hajah Siti Romiza binti Romali, Pn. Madeline Ak Ambit, Pn. Franky Mesa dan Pn. Rafiza binti Radin yang akan menentukan sama ada tajuk yang dibentangkan adalah bertepatan dan mempunyai hasil serta impak yang baik kepada organisasi secara keseluruhannya.
Bengkel Bimbingan Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif Jabatan Tanah dan Survei Sarawak ini menyaksikan 13 kumpulan dari seluruh Jabatan peringkat JTS Sarawak membentangkan hasil projek inovasi yang telah mereka pilih dan tentukan. Berdasarkan kepada hasil pembentangan projek inovasi semua kumpulan, ia akan dipertandingkan di dalam Konvensyen Inovasi dan Kualiti JTS peringkat negeri Sarawak yang dijangka akan diadakan pada bulan Jun atau Julai 2022 ini.
Bengkel ini secara khususnya dapat memberi pengetahuan yang luas kepada kedua-dua kumpulan Pancang dan Fabulous dari FABU dalam pemilihan tajuk serta menghasilkan projek inovatif dan kreatif yang telah tersedia ada untuk diperluaskan pada masa akan datang. Ahli kumpulan KIK FABU yang terlibat dalam Bengkel Bimbingan Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif Jabatan Tanah dan Survei Sarawak ini juga diberi peluang yang banyak untuk berkongsi pandangan dan soalan secara terus kepada ahli kumpulan KIK dari seluruh unit dan jabatan JTS Sarawak. Selain itu, wakil daripada FABU juga berpeluang untuk mendapatkan maklumat serta idea daripada para panel dalam sesi dialog di bengkel tersebut.
Pihak kedua-dua kumpulan Pancang dan Fabulous FABU berharap agar program seperti ini akan sentiasa diadakan supaya ia dapat disemai dalam jiwa staf FABU secara khususnya. Diharapkan kerjasama serta perkongsian daripada pihak JTS Sarawak dapat mendorong kumpulan KIK FABU dalam menambahbaik dan meningkatkan kualiti serta produktiviti kerja khususnya dalam sistem penyampaian perkhidmatan di FABU.

Perkongsian berkenaan Transformasi GIS untuk Utiliti Air dalam Ranhill SAJ kepada pelajar FABU

Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd (Ranhill SAJ) dengan kerjasama Fakulti Alam Bina dan Ukur (FABU), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) telah menjayakan program forum “Transformasi Pengurusan Utiliti Air Menerusi Sistem Maklumat Geografi (GIS) kepada Teknologi Era Baharu di Ranhill SAJ” yang berlangsung secara dalam talian pada 28 Februari 2022.
Program ini bertujuan untuk melihat proses transformasi yang telah berlaku di Ranhill SAJ dalam menguruskan maklumat berkaitan utiliti air dengan menggunakan sains dan teknologi GIS. Forum ini dipengerusikan oleh Sr Gs Dr Nurul Hawani Idris daripada FABU, bersama dengan panel jemputan daripada Ranhill SAJ, iaitu Tuan Haji Ir Md Fuad Bakri, selaku Ketua Pengurusan Aset, Ranhill SAJ.
Program ini telah dihadiri lebih 100 orang peserta, terutama daripada pelajar daripada Program Sarjana Muda Sains (Geoinformatik) yang sedang menjalani kursus Khemah Latihan GIS, FABU, selain peserta daripada agensi kerajaan dan swasta yang lain. Program ini juga dipancarkan secara langsung di Facebook Ranhill SAJ, yang mana peserta boleh berinteraksi secara langsung di laman Facebook itu.
Tuan Haji Ir Md Fuad telah berkongsi kepada peserta bagaimana pihak Ranhill SAJ telah menggunapakai teknologi GIS dalam membantu pengumpulan data, merekabentuk pangkalan data GIS yang bersesuaian, memaparkan maklumat GIS berkaitan utiliti air, dan membuat analisis menggunakan aplikasi GIS mereka.
Beliau juga berkongsi maklumat utiliti air sangat mudah dicapai dengan adanya GIS, antaranya adalah terdapat 23,739 kilometer paip, 1.24 juta NOS yang sedang diuruskan oleh Ranhill SAJ pada tahun 2022 ini. Tanpa GIS, maklumat ini memerlukan masa untuk dicari dan dicapai.
Menggunakan GIS juga, pihak Ranhill SAJ mampu melihat jumpa meter paip yang sedang aktif di dalam Negeri Johor, dan paparan kawasan taburan paip air, meter air dan lain-lain maklumat utiliti berkaitan.
Pihak Ranhill SAJ juga berkongsi berkenaan maklumat sedikit analisis GIS yang dilaksanakan, sebagai contoh, sekiranya terdapat paip air pecah, dan pihak Ranhill SAJ dapat terus mencari valve yang berkaitan, dan sekiranya terpaksa menutup valve, manakah rumah yang akan terkesan dan tidak akan ada air buat sementara waktu.
Selain itu, pihak Ranhill SAJ juga berbesar hati memberi tajaan untuk hadiah bagi kuiz yang dilakukan dalam program ini. Diharapkan perkongsian daripada pihak Ranhill SAJ ini dapat memberikan manfaat dan kebaikan kepada peserta yang hadir, terutamanya kepada pelajar Program Sarjana Muda Sains (Geoinformatik).
